ACETAL (CO-POLYMER)
Acetals are thermoplastics with the chemical name “PolyOxyMethylene” (POM). Overall, acetal provides high strength and stiffness, enhanced dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, a low coefficient of friction, good wear and abrasion properties, good chemical resistance, and is easy to machine.
ACRYLIC (PMMA: POLYMETHYL-METHACRYLATE)
Acrylics are thermoplastics that are produced by the polymerization of acrylic esters. Acrylics are easily sawed, drilled, milled, engraved, and finished. They can be readily bent or thermoformed at low temperature. They offer high light transmittance and most acrylics have been UV stabilized for good weatherability. This makes them the best choice for light-transmitting applications.
CELAZOLE® PBI (POLYBENZIMIDAZOLE)
Celazole® is Dupont’s brand name for the high performance imidized thermoplastic called PBI. It is a very clean material in terms of ionic impurity and does not outgas with the exception of water. This makes Celazole® PBI ideal for semiconductor manufacturers and vacuum chamber applications.
FEP (FLUORONATED ETHYLENE PROPYLENE)
FEP offers the lowest refractive index of all thermoplastics. Its weatherability also makes it an excellent resistor to ozone and sunlight. FEP’s properties make it ideal for use in tubing with thin walls that can be mechanically expanded or heat shrunk. FEP can be heat sealed, thermoformed, welded, vacuum formed, heat bonded, metallized, laminated, and used as a hot-melt adhesive.
LDPE (LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE)
LDPE is a thermoplastic that belongs to the polyolefin group of materials. LDPE is an extruded material that is characterized by good flexibility and resilience, good corrosion resistance and low moisture permeability, low heat resistance, low-temperature impact resistance, and clarity when in film form.
PCTFE (POLYCHLOROTRIFLUOROETHYLENE)
PCTFE is a thermoplastic that is produced by the polymerization of chlorotrifluoroethylene. It offers a unique combination of physical and mechanical properties, nonflammability, chemical resistance, very low moisture absorption, and excellent electrical properties.
POLYCARBONATE (UNFILLED)
Unfilled polycarbonate is a high-molecular weight amorphous engineering thermoplastic. This tough and transparent material is unmatched in clarity and ability to withstand high impact over a wide range of temperatures.
POLYSULFONE (PSU)
Polysulfone is an amorphous high performance thermoplastic that offers excellent mechanical and electrical properties, as well as chemical resistance to acidic and salt solutions. It also has good resistance to detergents.
PPS 40% GLASS FILLED (POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE)
PPS (PolyPhenylene Sulfide) is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic. It offers the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. There are no known solvents that effect PPS under 392º F, and it is inert to steam, strong bases, fuels, and acids.
PPS – BEARING GRADE (POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE)
PPS (PolyPhenylene Sulfide) is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic. It offers the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. There are no known solvents that effect PPS under 392º F, and it is inert to steam, strong bases, fuels, and acids.
