TEFZEL® (ETFE – ETHYLENE TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE)

TEFZEL® (ETFE – ETHYLENE TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE)

Material Information

Tefzel® is DuPont’s brand name for the material called ETFE (Ethylene TetraFluoroEthylene). ETFE belongs to the fluoropolymer family. Fluoropolymers in general are known to have high chemical resistance, a wide range of operating temperatures, resistance to weathering, low friction, and electrical and thermal insulation. EFTE in particular was produced to offer a material that provides both corrosion resistance and mechanical strength over a wide temperature range. Tefzel® ETFE offers high purity, high impact strength, excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, good resistance to permeability, and resistance to radiation and heat sterilization. These properties are true for Tefzel® ETFE over a wide range of temperatures (-300 to 300º F). Tefzel® ETFE is available in the form of sheet, rod, and film.
