PCTFE (POLYCHLOROTRIFLUOROETHYLENE)
Material Information
PCTFE is a thermoplastic that is produced by the polymerization of chlorotrifluoroethylene. It offers a unique combination of physical and mechanical properties, nonflammability, chemical resistance, very low moisture absorption, and excellent electrical properties. All of these characteristics are found over a useful temperature range (-400º F to 400º F). However, over 212º F a few solvents may dissolve the material or cause it to swell. It also has extremely low outgassing, which makes it a good option for aerospace and flight applications. It can be processed by compression molding or extrusion, and can be machined to precise tolerances. PCTFE is available in the form of rod, sheet, and tubing.
