NYLATRON® GSM BLUE (NYLON TYPE 6 – CAST MOLY & OIL FILLED)
Material Information
Nylon 6 belongs to the cast nylon family of materials. Cast nylons offer the widest array of sizes or custom shapes of any thermoplastic. Nylons are a frequently used material as replacements for bronze, brass, aluminum, steel, and other metals, especially in bearing or wear applications. Nylons offer excellent wear and impact resistance, have high tensile strength and high modulus of elasticity, and have a high heat distortion temperature. They also resist wear, abrasion, and vibration. Nylons can also withstand a variety of chemicals, alkalis, oxidizing agents, and dilute acids. However, nylons do absorb moisture, so they are not recommended for wet applications. Because of its high crystalinity, Nylon 6 has better heat deflection, better solvent resistance, better hygroscopic characteristics, and better dimensional stability than Nylon 6/6. Nylon 6 is available in rod, tube, and sheet.
Nylatron® GSM Blue is a cast moly and oil filled nylon 6. This combination has the load capability of Nylatron® GSM as well as improved frictional characteristics. It is dark blue in color and is ideal for high load applications where a lower coefficient of friction is needed.
