ERTALYTE® TX PET-P (POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE POLYESTER)

ERTALYTE® TX PET-P (POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE POLYESTER)

Material Information

Ertalyte® TX PET-P is an unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer based on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET-P). PET-P in general is known to have the best dimensional stability, excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high strength and rigidity, excellent stain resistance, good chemical and abrasion resistance, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions. Because of its low moisture absorption rate, PET-P’s mechanical and electrical properties are virtually unaffected by moisture. The characteristic that sets Ertalyte® TX PET-P apart is its uniformly dispersed lubricant. This provides Ertalyte® TX PET-P with better wear and inertness over nylon and acetal products, and also a lower wear rate and lower coefficient of friction than unmodified polyesters such as PET-P or PBT. These characterstics make Ertalyte® TX PET-P ideal for use in applications that involve high pressure and velocity conditions. It also makes a good replacement in applications involving soft metal and plastic mating surfaces to reduce noise and wear better. Ertalyte® TX PET-P is available in an FDA approved light grey color in the form of rod and plate.
