CELAZOLE® PBI (POLYBENZIMIDAZOLE)

CELAZOLE® PBI (POLYBENZIMIDAZOLE)

Material Information

Celazole® is Dupont’s brand name for the high performance imidized thermoplastic called PBI. It is a very clean material in terms of ionic impurity and does not outgas with the exception of water. This makes Celazole® PBI ideal for semiconductor manufacturers and vacuum chamber applications. It is the highest performing engineering plastic available. Celazole® PBI has the highest heat resistance and mechanical property retention over 400º F of any unfilled plastic. It also has the best wear resistance and load carrying capacity than any other engineering plastic. Overall, it is an excellent thermal insulator, has excellent ultrasonic transparency, has good chemical resistance, and other plastics in melt do not stick to it. Cerlazole® PBI is available in the forms of sheet and rod.
